Southern Californians can enjoy a brand new cross-cultural event to help them usher in the holiday season this December. Taking place in the newly established Downtown Anaheim community district, the Taste of the Americas festival (www.tasteoftheamericas.com) showcases cultural diversity and heritage from across the Americas with a unique celebration of food, music and dance. This event, organized by AyQueChevere Productions in association with the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, brings together entertainers and vendors from North America, Central America, and South America together in one location, allowing event attendees to take a “Pan-American Tour” in a single day. They will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of food and wine, while shopping for unique, one of a kind gifts and crafts, all the while being entertained by numerous, vibrant performances both on the main stages and collectively throughout the festival areas.
“We are extremely excited to produce an event of this interest and magnitude uniting all of the Americas, socially, economically, and culturally,” said Ray Jelley, Chairman of AyQueChevere. “Our country benefits greatly from the inter-weaving of traditions originating from cultures from across the Americas,” continued Jelley. “Many take for granted that the rising impact of Latino culture on present day life is not one homogenous cultural push, but is actually fueled by a tapestry of influences from countries like Brazil, Guatemala and Puerto Rico. Adding to that concept, we have also invited representatives from a few select countries outside of the Americas such as Spain, Portugal, and the Caribbean. This event will enable people to actually see, taste and experience that rich diversity.”
Erika Dresser, spokesperson for the Taste of the Americas festival added, “What this means is that for less than the price of admission to a movie, guests can experience a full day of activities that the entire family can enjoy.” “There will be something for everyone. You can experience an international journey filled with traditional foods, dancing with the salsa stars competition, cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, band competitions, and a Christmas village featuring daily visits from Santa Claus himself,” Dresser continued. “Our desire is to present an international experience that will enable any guest from any ethnic background to see, hear, and taste all the beauty, tradition, and excitement characterized by the Latin culture and to celebrate the essence of diversity!”
As an added bonus, this special event will offer attendees menu choices starting at just one dollar, plus major prize giveaways including roundtrip domestic airfares, TV’s and electronics, just to name a few. A pass that provides access to this event for an entire day may be purchased in advance online at www.tasteoftheamericas.com for $10.00 per person. General admission on the day of the event is priced at $13.00. Special family 4-packs are also available in advance for $32.00. Parking is free. This Anaheim Taste of the Americas festival is the first of six such events planned for cities across the United States in 2008 and 2009.
