The economic downturn did not dissuade over 300+ corporations and organizations from participating in the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) Annual Conference and Career Expo. NSHMBA opened its 2008 Conference & Career Expo October 10th in Atlanta, GA, with over 8400 registered Hispanic professionals, MBAs & MBA candidates and academics. Local officials, Deloitte executives, Emory University Goizueta Business School, and NSHMBA leadership welcomed participants at the ribbon cutting ceremony, making history in Atlanta as the largest Hispanic conference.

Corporate leaders repeatedly stated that “top Hispanic talent” is what corporations seek at the NSHMBA Conference and Career Expo. Given the education power of Hispanic MBAs, and the current and forecasted population size and buying power, the Hispanic community is top-of-mind for corporations seeking to successfully navigate through the current economic crisis.
“Our current economy has affected everyone and NSHMBA is no exception. In fact, we have benefited from the turmoil as we see corporations stand firm in their commitment to our mission to ensure the diversity pipeline continues to flourish,” states NSHMBA CEO, Lourdes Hassler. “We stand together with our sponsors in our pursuit of diverse, global leaders. We are committed to positively affecting our economy, community and developing future leaders.”
NSHMBA’s conference featured a Professional Development Day, an exclusive Executive Forum, and the nation’s largest career expo for Hispanic MBAs. In addition, the inaugural Hispanic Research Forum was held, as top academic researchers presented and discussed topics and papers that combine academic research with managerial implications for recruiters, executives and academics seeking insight into the Hispanic workforce.
During the conference, NSHMBA recognized Hispanic scholars from across the country that were recently awarded over $1 million in NSHMBA scholarships and financial aid. The organization also presented the prestigious Brillante Awards for Excellence during the final evening gala on Saturday night.
