“The Latin Recording Academy(R), Eventus and announce the schedule for the 2008 (R) Street Parties. Currently in its sixth year, the “Street Parties” will kick-off in New Jersey’s historic Bergenline Avenue, off 32nd Street between New York Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard, in Union City. The festivals will continue in Chicago’s Plaza Garibaldi on October 5th; South Florida (West 16th Ave. between 37th & 41st St., Hialeah) on October 12th; Los Angeles (Placita Olvera) on October 19th; wrapping up in Dallas (Jefferson Street between Tyler & North Llewellyn) on October 26th. This month-long celebration highlights the enthusiasm, excellence and diversity of the U.S. Hispanic communities and will culminate with the anticipated 9th Annual Awards, set for Nov. 13 at Toyota Center in Houston, will be broadcast live on the Network from 8 – 11 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central).

The 2008 Street Parties are presented by McDonald’s and Sears. Official sponsors include Verizon Wireless, State Farm Insurance and Gibson Musical Instruments. The only national Latin music festival series will continue to feature performances by some of Latin music’s hottest artists while serving as a launching pad for emerging talent representing various genres, including reggaeton, regional Mexican, pop, spanish rock, and tropical. The kick-off event in New Jersey will include performances by tropical music artists Gilberto Santa Rosa, Monchy y Alexandra, Xtreme, and Oro Solido, along with pop singer Cabas, among others. The talent roster for the proceeding festivals will be announced in late September.

The Street Parties capture the excitement surrounding the Awards by offering an interactive backdrop for attendees to experience live entertainment, sponsor display areas, and product sampling.

Media partners for The Street Parties include: TV, Radio, Online, El Nuevo Herald, Al Dia, Impremedia’s La Raza Newspaper, El Diario/La Prensa, and La Opinion.

In addition to its U.S. broadcast, the 9th Annual Awards will be broadcast in approximately 100 countries worldwide. “
