Qwest Foundation Partners with National Hispanic Cultural Center and “Arte Los Martes” Program – MarketWatch

Children in underserved schools throughout Albuquerque will benefit from a $10,000 grant announced today by the Qwest Foundation. Arte los Martes, an outreach initiative of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, will use the grant to provide art education opportunities to area schools. NHCC is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and advancement of Hispanic culture, arts and humanities.
“I have seen the NHCC grow from just an idea to the magnificent organization that it is today,” said Loretta A. Armenta, Qwest New Mexico president. “I’ve also seen how it helps keep Hispanic culture alive and relevant to the community. Bringing Hispanic cultural arts to students is one way to keep the culture vibrant, and the Qwest Foundation is proud to be a part of it.”
“The National Hispanic Cultural Center and its Foundation are grateful to the continued support of Qwest,” said Clara Apodaca, president and chief executive officer of the NHCC Foundation. “This important funding allows the Foundation to support the acclaimed Education Program for more than 25,000 school children each year here at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.”
Since opening in 2000, NHCC has staged more than 25 art exhibitions and 500 programs in the visual, performing and literary arts. Providing venues for visitors to learn about Hispanic culture throughout the world, the campus is located along the banks of the Rio Grande in the historic Albuquerque neighborhood of Barelas.
