Cine Latino to Present Audience Award at 2008 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival

“Cine Latino, the leading Spanish-language premium film channel in the United States, makes its debut sponsorship of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) by presenting the 2008 LALIFF Cine Latino Audience Award.

“We are thrilled to be presenting the 2008 LALIFF Cine Latino Audience Award,” said Jim McNamara, Chairman of Cine Latino. “Cine Latino is committed to delivering the best, most-current Spanish-language blockbusters and critically-acclaimed titles from Mexico, Latin America and Spain, and we look forward to listening to our audience to determine their favorite Latino film of 2008.”

Following each of the more than 100 films that will be screened at the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to rate the film on a
four-point scale. The 2008 LALIFF Cine Latino Audience Award will be assigned to the highest-rated film based on audience feedback during the Closing Gala on Friday, September 19, 2008.

“We are proud to support Latino filmmakers worldwide who are able to capture the richness and diversity of the Latin culture through film,” says Marlene Dermer, Executive Director of LALIFF. “The Audience Award is a special honor for filmmakers, as it represents the hearts and minds of those in the Latin community who share our passion for film.”

With more than 3.5 million cable and satellite subscribers, Cine Latino is the leading U.S. Spanish-language movie channel. Cine Latino offers the most current Spanish-language blockbusters and critically-acclaimed titles from Mexico, Latin America and Spain.
