Demonstrating its commitment to Latino business owners nationwide, Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) announces the second annual Wells Fargo/United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Hispanic Businesswoman and Hispanic Businessman of the Year Awards. Wells Fargo and the USHCC will award $5,000 to one Hispanic businesswoman and one Hispanic businessman who are extraordinary entrepreneurs and are committed to their communities. Each national winner’s Chamber of Commerce (or a chamber selected by the winner) will be awarded a $1,500 cash prize, and the individual nominator will receive $1,000. The awards will be presented at the USHCC Annual Convention & Business Expo Pavilion, September 24-27 in Sacramento, Calif. For more than ten years, Wells Fargo has joined with the USHCC through its Latino Business Services program to honor and support Latino business owners. Latino Business Services, established in 1997, offers outreach and education to help Latino business owners increase their access to capital and other financial services. Since the program’s inception, Wells Fargo has loaned more than $4.7 billion to thousands of Latino business owners nationwide and has a goal to lend $5 billion by 2010.
