“Emily Vasquez grew up differently from most judges serving on the California Superior Court.

Vasquez, who is 56, spent her childhood living in labor camps and worked in the fields picking cotton, peaches, tomatoes, or whatever was in season, as did her parents. It was an itinerant existence until she reached high school, and the family of farm workers settled in Lodi.”*
