“Salvadoran immigrant José Rivas started his cardboard box company in 1995 with savings and money borrowed from relatives. This year, his Herman Packaging Co. will see $4 million in sales, and Rivas is such a fixture in the Latino business community that he was named president of the Spanish-speaking chamber of commerce.

The elevation of a Central American to the top position at Cámara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston is another sign of the growing diversity of Houston’s immigrant community.”*
