““Buenos días!” Lake Zurich police Sgt. Willie Quinones said to about 20 area residents who gathered Saturday morning at the police department.

This cheerful greeting not only wished these residents a good morning or good day, but it also began an informational meeting that marked the beginning of the Police Department’s partnership with the Mexican Consulate in an attempt to assist the Lake Zurich area’s Spanish-speaking residents.

Some seven-to-nine percent of the Lake Zurich population is Hispanic and a significant portion of the people who work in the area are Hispanic, Quinones said. “*
