“Mendoza, a 15-year veteran of the Mexican bull ring, will be among featured matadors at the first Houston-area bullfight in more than two decades, an event, promoters say, designed to raise money for scholarships for Hispanic students.

“Everybody who steps inside that ring has that feeling of excitement,” Mendoza said. “It has something to do with the danger, but also with confidence. When a bull is coming toward me, I know I can avoid him with the cape.”

Joining Mendoza in the ring at Rosenberg’s Fort Bend County Fairgrounds will be famed Mexican matador Enrique Delgado, the “Cyclone of Monterrey.”"*
