“Mexico’s America Movil and Spain’s Telefonica, the undisputed mobile phone kings in Latin America, are poised to fight a new round in their battle for supremacy of one of the world’s fastest growing markets.

With market penetration low at around 65 percent in the two biggest economies of Brazil and Mexico, both companies have ample room to grow just by enticing people to buy their first mobile phones.

But there is no love lost between America Movil and Telefonica, and competition is seen heating up this year as they push new technology, price deals and possible acquisitions.”*
