“In search of greater entrepreneurial opportunities, Mexico native Edel López moved from Dalton, Ga., to LaFayette, Ga., three months ago to open El Cancún restaurant.

“I visited the city once and thought it would be a good place to open a Mexican restaurant because there weren’t others; there wasn’t any competition,” Mr. López, who owns another restaurant in Chatsworth, Ga., said speaking in Spanish.
