Knowledge is Power!
Book published in 2007 parallels current residential race
May 6, 2007, George’s Flag, was released. The book is the fictional story of the rise of the Hispanic Peoples Party and the election of the first Hispanic president of the United States in the year 2040. The book, unknowingly, parallels what is happening in America today and the current political race. In the book, there are three candidates for president, two men and one woman. The Republican nominee is a governor and the Democratic nominee is a senator. The woman is Hispanic and she represents the newly formed Hispanic Peoples Party.
What is unusual about the platform of the Hispanic Peoples Party is that their message to the American people is one of Hope. Hope for a better life for parents and their children. Hope for a better America. Their platform is Faith, Courage, and Honor, faith that they have the knowledge that what we do is morally correct, courage that we will do what is morally correct and honor that we will honor those that do what is morally correct; all based on their belief in God.
The author, Edward Arnold, was interviewed recently about his book. He was asked how he guessed, more than one year ago what would be happening today. “I didn’t guess anything,” Mr. Arnold answered. “I set out to create the perfect political party and I thought very hard about what people want. George’s Flag is a commentary on American politics. If the government can not provide for the needs of the people, the people will find a way to provide those needs themselves.”
The book begins in the year 1998, as illegal Hispanics enter the United States. In 2000, one of the illegal Hispanic women gives birth to her daughter as she is working in the citrus fields of Florida. The girl is named George, after George Washington the first President of the United States. The gift of an American flag to the newborn Hispanic child, George’s Flag, begins a forty-year political strategy to elect George Pilar the first Hispanic American president of the United States in the year 2040.
Mr. Arnold was asked why he selected a woman and a Hispanic. “Population dispersion,” Mr. Arnold answered. “In the year 2040, people of Hispanic descent will have the largest population in America. I do not think they will go Democratic or Republican. I think they will form their own political party. I selected a woman because I wanted the future president to be more like average people. I selected the last name Pilar because I did not want the name to sound too Spanish. Pilar is the name of one of Cortez’s soldiers. It is Spanish”
Mr. Arnold was asked. “In your book, you have the first Hispanic president being elected in the year 2040. Many people believe it will happen sooner. What is your opinion? “I don’t think so,” Mr. Arnold answered. “It will not be until 2040 or a few years later because they will not have the population.” Mr. Arnold smiled. “However, that is my opinion.” The interviewer laughed, “But your opinion counts!”
George’s Flag is available in bookstores and from Amazon.com. The book is hard back and considered an epic due to its length – 535 pages. The cost is $26.95.
