Girl Interrupted: Death forces a young Mexican ‘princesa’ to discover a different life in Brigham Young University stage – Utah From: heraldextra.com

Tagged: ,

“Like a fairy tale told in reverse order, “Esperanza Rising” is the story of pampered rich girl, “una princesa,” the child of wealthy Mexican landowners, who takes a long fall into the destitution of being a lowly crops picker in California. The character was created for an award-winning young adult novel written by Pam Munoz Ryan and published in 2000.

Courtesy of playwright Lynne Alvarez and Brigham Young University’s Theatre for Young Audiences, however, you can also experience the story of Esperanza Ortega as live theater. “Esperanza Rising” will be in production at BYU’s Pardoe Theatre, beginning with preview performances next week on Wednesday and Thursday, through June 14.”*
