Eight-time Emmy Award-winner Jorge Ramos anchors the nightly Univision News, with an audience of 7 million Spanish-speaking viewers nationwide.
Time and People magazines have both called him one of the 25 most influential Hispanics in the United States. In the Bay Area, more adults 18 to 49 watch Ramos’ newscast than any other evening network news show. He’s treated as a rock star by his fans, but he’s still largely unknown to English-speaking viewers.
Tonight, the Mexican-born Ramos will accept a Distinguished Citizen Award from the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, one of six immigrants whom the club will honor this year. “*
