Knowledge is Power!
Silva, 47, a Latino artist and writer who lives in Lancaster, Calif., visited Washington State University Tri-Cities on Tuesday to share his insights about how to make education meaningful to a demographic of people who often don’t understand its role.
He gave his presentation to about 20 site directors who work in WSU Tri-Cities’ GEAR UP program, which works to prepare economically challenged students for college.
While in the area, Silva also planned to meet with parents and students. On Tuesday, he visited Stevens Middle School in Pasco, A.H. Smith Elementary School in Grandview and Mabton Junior/Senior High School in Mabton.”*
