The stories and history of Cuba have provided Clovis poet and novelist Margarita Engle with a rich reservoir of inspiring tales — and she returns to those roots for her latest book, “The Surrender Tree.”
As she did with her previous award-winning volume — “The Poet Slave of Cuba: A Biography of Juan Francisco Manzano” from 2006 — Engle writes her newest book in free-verse poetry.”*
