Lena Guerrero blazed trails for women in Texas politics.
We join the many friends, family members, admirers and others in remembering Guerrero, who died last week at age 50.
Guerrero carved a swath through Texas politics by going where few, and sometimes no, women had gone before, always earning the respect of her peers along the way. Sure, she had faults. And they played out larger than life in the public arena precisely because she was so rare in the 1980s world of Texas politics.”*
