Although the percentage of Hispanics in the federal work force increased over the past decade, it still lags behind the number of Latinos in the civilian labor force, according to a report released Wednesday.
Hispanics held 7.8 percent of federal jobs in 2007, up from 5.3 percent in 1990. But Latinos made up 13.3 percent of the civilian labor force, said George Stalcup with the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress.
The GAO conducted the federal work force diversity study at the request of the House Small Business subcommittee, which oversees hiring practices.”*
