“Canal Internet, Inc. (www.canalinternet.com), the online video entertainment company for Hispanics, announced today that it has reached over 1 million unique viewers since its official beta launch less than two months ago. The site offers free on demand video content, ranging from major Latin American television shows, like Fear Factor, to independent and exclusive online videos.

“This is a very important milestone and we are very excited that we have accomplished it in such a short period of time,” stated Andy Kleinman, Founder and CEO of Canal Internet, who also mentioned that the growth thus far has been purely viral, as the company has budgeted very little for marketing since launch. Currently, our audience’s demographics are split evenly between the USA and major Latin American markets such as Mexico and Argentina.

“Our goal throughout this initial stage has been to test our product with our users and make sure they are liking our content. Our priority is not only for them to come back to Canal Internet, but also for them to invite their friends and share our videos across the web,” added Kleinman.

The company has a major partnership with Endemol Latin America and is now in the process of closing other agreements with media companies to distribute their content. Currently the site has over 25 shows in a broad range of categories ranging from comedy, reality, and drama, to animation and sports. Last week it premiered its new original series called “Casting Abierto” (Open Casting), which features aspiring actors that are humorously improvising scenes from movies under the premise that they are auditioning for a given role.

Canal Internet is based in Miami Beach, Florida and has offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The company is privately owned and has received initial funding from angel investors.”*
