For consumers, the 15th annual Hispanic Business and Consumer Expo offers a chance to compare products and go home with plenty of free samples.
For entrepreneurs such as Carmen Ríos of Moca, Puerto Rico, the expo at the Orange County Convention Center was just the break she needed to help her expand into a new market that seems ripe for her wares.
“There is a large Puerto Rican population here which is already familiar with our products,” said Ríos, vice president of Dulzura Borincana, a company that makes traditional Puerto Rican sweets. “And the fact that our product is 100percent natural and fruit-based — coconut, guava, pineapple — makes it appealing to the non-Hispanic consumer as well.”"*
