A supermarket chain that caters to Hispanics has quietly expanded in Central Florida during the past few months, opening grocery stores in Orange City, Kissimmee and Orlando.
Freshco International Supermarkets specializes in fresh produce and other perishables that can be hard to find in non-Hispanic grocery stores. It is owned by United Supermarket Group Inc. of Orlando.
Hispanic grocery stores ranging from small bodegas to large supermarkets have been popping up across the region as the Hispanic population has grown. Mainstream grocery chains such as Publix Super Markets and Wal-Mart Stores have also been expanding their Hispanic product lines.”*
