Knowledge is Power!

“Schools in South Florida and around the country are all grappling with how to attract professors who look like their growing minority student populations. Nationally, just 6 percent of faculty are black and 4 percent are Hispanic, according to 2005 data from the U.S. Department of Education. The University of Florida and Florida State University both have faculty bodies that are less than 10 percent black and Hispanic.

The pool of qualified applicants is small, and many universities from every state are competing for the same candidates, administrators said.”*
