Now that Dominican author Junot Díaz has joined the ultra-exclusive Pulitzer league, his one and only Latino predecessor has some advice for him.

“Don’t let that overwhelm you,” says Cuban-American novelist Oscar Hijuelos. “Remember the work and keep your feet on the ground.”
