Manu Chao will release a new ‘Politik Kills’ remix EP next Tuesday, April 22nd, at digital outlets and in stores on June 3rd. The album will feature a reggae remix collection of the ‘La Radiolina’ track by artists like UK icons Linton Kwesi Johnson and Dennis Bovell as well as Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and several others.
Manu Chao will also be performing a couple exciting co-headlining dates later this summer: the Outside Lands Music Festival on August 22nd in San Francisco and the Austin City Limits Music Festival on September 26th in Texas. Outside Lands’ lineup includes other leading acts like Radiohead and Tom Petty. Austin City Limits’ lineup features rockers like the Mars Volta, Foo Fighters and David Byrne. Several more Manu Chao U.S. dates will be announced soon.
Fans can visit the new website, www.PolitiKills.com, to preview tracks from the remix EP and watch the new “Politik Kills” music video. The site also features online-exclusive remixes from Bostich + Fussible of Nortec Collective. Fans and DJs can also access PolitiKills.com to download the different parts of the song and create their own remix. Finally, the site includes commentary from social leaders, writers, artists and more; all in the name of reflecting on the misuse and abuse of power plaguing the world.
The late 2007 release, ‘La Radiolina’, recently won a Billboard Latin Music award in the “Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album” category. This exciting news followed a highly-successful year which featured the global star winning his first career Latin Grammy, selling out large venues across the world and year-end critical acclaim across most major media outlets including Time Magazine, Spin Magazine, The New Yorker and the Los Angeles Times. Entertainment Weekly described the album as “so sonically vivid, so gloriously evocative, translation seems almost superfluous.” The Los Angeles Times called it “mesmerizing.”
