“The founder of an organization that has set up water stations in the Imperial Valley desert to save the lives of illegal border-crossers will receive an honorary degree from Southwestern College next month.

Enrique Morones started Border Angels in 1986. The group has installed 340 water stations in the desert.

Morones is also a founding member of the Southwestern College Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money for scholarships and a college endowment. He is the former director of Latino marketing for the San Diego Padres.”*
