“Governor Carcieri won’t reconsider an executive order cracking down on illegal immigration despite pleas yesterday for him to take another look at it.

That’s according to Carcieri spokesman Jeff Neal.

Carcieri’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs yesterday said that while they don’t support illegal immigration, they fear the governor’s order could cause police to target Hispanics who are in the country legally. They also question the accuracy of population statistics that Carcieri has cited to justify his order.”*
