“Sacramento Superior Court Judge John A. Mendez has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Sacramento’s newest federal judge.

Because of the bipartisan support he enjoyed, Mendez, who was nominated Sept. 6 by President Bush, did not meet the political resistance faced by most judicial picks of lame-duck presidents.”*
