A group of about 30 residents asked questions Wednesday evening about specific immigration cases and learned at a workshop about local, county and state proposals that could affect immigrants.
“There’s a lot of fear within the community, and they call us constantly with immigration questions,” said America Gruner, president of the Coalition of Latino Leaders that sponsored the event.
“There are a lot of rumors out there, (including) that they are going to start stopping everyone who drives,” Ms. Gruner said, “so we want to give them an opportunity to clear all their doubts and ask all the questions they need.””*
