“A new study of California doctors reveals a vast ethnic disparity in the state’s physician workforce when compared with the state’s population, particularly for Latinos and African-Americans.

In the Bay Area, for instance, 20 percent of the population is Latino but only 3.6 percent of physicians are Latino. Similarly, the region’s overall population for African-Americans is 7.3 percent, while 2.9 percent of physicians are African-American.”*
