“Jock Soto’s journey from a hardscrabble childhood on an Indian reservation to stardom as the principal dancer in the New York City Ballet is the stuff of telenovelas.

A documentary capturing his remarkable story, “Water Flowing Together,” will air at 10 p.m. next Tuesday on Channel 13, part of PBS’ “Independent Lens” series.

The film, by photographer-turned-filmmaker Gwendolen Cates, documents Soto’s 2005 retirement after a 25-year career with the City Ballet.”*
