Since the start of 2008, José Feliciano has already performed for audiences in Korea, Brazil and India. Now the world’s “greatest living guitarist” will log another hasty flight half-way around the world to join Pope Benedict XVI at a papal mass at Yankee Stadium on April 20th. Having received an invitation/request to perform at the historic papal mass, the six-time Grammy winning music legend will cut short an already planned tour of Australia to arrive back in New York on the eve of the event which is expected to see over 60,000 parishioners fill Yankee Stadium.
Feliciano has been asked to perform three songs at the papal mass in accordance with the Pope’s planned theme of “Hope, and Puerto-Rican born and New York raised artist has chosen “Lean On Me,” by Bill Withers; Feliciano’s own internationally known hit “Che Sara,” and the Lee Greenwood classic, “God Bless The USA.” Feliciano will be joined on the bill by Harry Connick Jr. and the Irish singer Dana.

He does rock, pop and blues. He refuses categorization.”- CBS Sunday Morning
