“The Advertising Club of the Virgin Islands announced the winners of the local 2008 ADDY Awards competition.

The ADDY Awards are sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and are the advertising industry’s most comprehensive and prestigious competition recognizing creative excellence in numerous categories of various media types. Twenty-nine companies entered this year’s awards in over 72 categories.

MLB Creative was the competition’s big winner, earning the coveted overall Best of Show Award for McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Holiday radio spot. MLB also pulled down awards for Best of Interactive for the Southland Gaming website (SGVI.net), Best of Radio for McDonald’s, a Judges’ Choice for Creative Excellence and 12 other gold and silver awards.

McDonald’s Area Operations Manager, Isabel Hernandez in attendance at the event, was excited with their wins. “MLB has been creating award-winning work for McDonald’s for over 6 years. When we have people ordering and tell us they laughed when they heard the spot, we know it’s working.”

Ramon Colon, Divisional Marketing Director for McDonald’s Caribbean and Rocio Rivera, Communications Manager for McDonald’s Caribbean Division were presented with copies of the awards. Colon is anxious to share the success with his team in Puerto Rico and owners in Argentina. “The local flavor MLB brings to our restaurants is refreshing; these awards are very deserved by their team.”

Besides the wins for Puerto Rico operated McDonalds, MLB Creative also scored 4 ADDY wins for Banco Popular who also co-sponsored the event. Wins included the Banco Popular Holiday Jams Steel Pan Christmas CD, St. Thomas Carnival Shirt Graphics, and a Mortgage Campaign featuring a local celebrity.

Terri Brown, MLB Creative CEO gives their clients a lot of credit. “MLB believes that great work is not only a product of talent but of having clients who will give their agency the freedom to be creative and innovative. As the eyes and ears of the local market, MLB translates corporate brand ideals to the VI market in ways that drive business.”
