Univision Online, Inc., the interactive subsidiary of Univision Communications Inc., the nation’s leading Spanish-language media company, announced that Christian Martinez has been named Vice President of Ad Sales, Southeastern region, effective immediately. He will be based in Miami and will report to Byron Elton, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales, Univision Online.
“We couldn’t be more delighted that Christian is returning to Univision Online,” said Elton. “We are confident that his track record and leadership abilities will translate into great success in the Southeast.”
“Univision’s potential to engage Hispanics continues to grow as we expand our programming across television, online and wireless,” said Martinez. “As I continue to work closely with advertisers in the southeast region, I look forward to creating innovative programs that provide cutting-edge, unique solutions.”
Most recently, Martinez was an Account Executive for Univision Networks, where he managed advertising partnerships in the southeast region across all three networks, Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión. He started over five years ago and initially managed Galavisión accounts in the region. Since then, he has garnered extensive experience with integration and programming, and managed high-profile advertisers and agencies across categories such as autos, packaged goods, and wireless. Martinez consistently met and exceeded aggressive sales goals and consistently generated new business.
Previously, Martinez was a senior marketing manager for Univision Online, where he established key revenue-generating partnerships with industry leaders and launched services such as E-commerce, online dating and employment. He successfully increased monthly subscribers to each service and grew targeted traffic to the website. Martinez initially joined Univision Online in 2000 as a marketing manager. During this time, he established partnerships with top Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) and developed marketing campaigns that effectively increased computer penetration among U.S. Hispanic households.
Prior to Univision, Martinez was recruited to the renowned Management Development Program at General Electric Capital, working in business marketing and management during his two years of rotation. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business.”*
