Health care for Hispanics is criticized- A study finds elderly patients are usually treated at inferior sites

Most elderly Hispanics receive care in highly segregated hospitals where treatment for common conditions like heart attack and pneumonia often goes lacking, according to a study released today.
Conducted by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health, the study found that just five percent of all U.S. hospitals care for more than half of all elderly Hispanic-Americans nationwide.
When it came to how such critical medical conditions as heart at tack, pneumonia and congestive heart failure were treated, the quality of care varied considerably, with some performing well and others quite poorly. Researchers studied all 4,552 hospitals serving Medicare patients and focused on such crite ria as whether heart attack patients received aspirin upon arrival or if antibiotics were delivered in a timely fashion to pneumonia patients.”*
