Activists look to jump-start immigration debate for election – Carpentersville, Illinois

Tagged: , , ,

“Immigration activists say debate on illegal immigration reform has faded, even in suburban Chicago communities like Carpentersville.

That’s where thousands rallied last year on hardline anti-illegal immigration stances, like making English the official language. The village about 40 miles northwest of Chicago has a large immigrant population, mostly from Mexico.

Activists say they plan to draw more attention to immigration reform in the months leading up to the general election.”*
