“Hundreds of Hispanic business leaders will join the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and Toyota Motor Corp. for the 18th Annual USHCC Legislative Conference taking place March 11–13 in Washington, DC. Hispanic Chambers from throughout the nation will participate in key events focused on the promotion of the USHCC Legislative Agenda.

“Toyota has long sought to enrich the quality of life of the communities it serves,” said Irv Miller, group vice president, corporate communications, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “It brings us great satisfaction to join forces with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in aiding Hispanic business leaders realize their dreams.”

“Our nation’s 2.7 million Hispanic-owned enterprises comprise the largest and fastest growing business segment in the U.S., making them vital to our nation’s prosperity and competitiveness in the global economy,” said David C. Lizárraga, USHCC Board Chairman. “We are grateful to Toyota and our other corporate sponsors for their commitment and generous support of the USHCC’s efforts to promote policies that will foster the continued growth of Hispanic-owned business.”

The Legislative Conference brings together the nation’s top business owners, opinion leaders and key governmental and administration officials for a three-day gathering to address the most pressing legislative concerns of the Hispanic business community. Expansion of hemispheric relations and trade, telecommunications, energy efficiency, and federal procurement opportunities are among the key issues receiving top billing at this year’s Conference.

“The USHCC Legislative Conference provides a vital opportunity for Hispanic entrepreneurs to engage with their elected officials on legislative issues that affect businesses nationwide,” said Augustine Martinez, USHCC President and CEO. “Decisions made by our Congressional representatives affect the ability of these enterprises to continue growing and prospering.”

According to the U.S. Census, there are 26.8 million businesses in the United States. This includes 2.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses, which collectively generate nearly $400 billion in revenue annually. These Hispanic firms are expected to grow to 3.2 million by 2010, with total revenues surging to more than $465 billion.
