Uribe and about 85 other Spanish-speaking adults are learning English at a new program, the Hispanic Education for Life-Skills Project (HELP) in Pontiac. Demand for the classes, organizers say, has increased as immigrants struggle to find work in a sluggish economy.
“Learning English is going to help me find a job,” said Uribe, 39, of Bloomfield Hills.”*
