“The fifth annual Nuestras Raices Literary Arts Festival is bigger than its predecessors. Much bigger.

Generally a weekend of events, this time around the fest begins Friday and runs through March 27. Authors, musicians, actresses, a dress fashion show and vendors appear at eight of the branch libraries.

“The festival is a great way to learn about Mexican culture and heritage,” Elaine Valenzuela, one of many festival organizers, says. “The goal of this festival is to bring awareness to our community about Latino arts, literature and culture, and to celebrate contributions made by Latinos.”"*
