A developer, whose proposal for a Latino-themed water park was rejected Tuesday night by the City Council, is alleging that city officials have strung him along for three years and didn’t even inform him about the meeting or the decision.
Council members in closed session voted down the proposal 5-0 for the theme park at Willowick Golf Course. City Manager Matt Fertal said council members liked the proposal but didn’t think it would generate a need for tourists.
“Our goal with the resort area is to make it a cluster of destinations so people feel the need to stay in the area for several days, as in Orlando,” he said. “This was a good proposal, but would not generate additional demand for hotels.”"*
