“Greta Harrison says it’s been her lifelong dream to visit Cuba, her mother’s homeland, some day.

That goal got a little bit closer today with news that Fidel Castro has resigned as the country’s president after almost 50 years in power. But Harrison is quick to point out, that’s a small step.

“It’s my dream to visit when it’s legal and when the country is on the mend,” said Harrison, a 47-year-old Hampton resident. “My dream is for him to pass away and for the country to recuperate. If he is resigning, that might mean he is close to dying. But he’s like a cockroach - very hard to get rid of.”
