The eighth annual Indio International Hispanic Film Festival is crossing borders in more than one way.
Besides featuring more than 20 films set in Peru, Mexico, Cuba and Colombia, the festival will run in Indio and concurrently in several cities in Mexico. Most films are in Spanish with English subtitles, although some are in English.
Opening night features “Eréndira Ikikunari,” a film that received four Ariel (Mexican Oscars) nominations and is based on a Gabriel García Márquez novel of a legendary indigenous woman who fought back against the invading Spaniards.”*
