Deputies Learning Spanish – Georgia

“
When the bodies of three Mexican brothers were found in Rocky Creek in South Bibb County last January, it took authorities days to identify them.

“Not only did we realize we didn’t speak the language,” Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena said. “But also there were some cultural differences that we weren’t aware of either.”

After the incident, Modena took action to prepare his deputies for growth in the Hispanic community.”*
