“Unlike most other Catholic teens, Juan Chaidez is actively involved with his church and is taking steps to make sure he can emerge one day as a leader in his congregation.

Take into account his Hispanic heritage, and the 17-year-old junior at Hillcrest High School is even more of an anomaly.
