“Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Wednesday said the U.S. would not prosper if it closed its doors to Mexico, striking at a controversial issue playing out in states along the border.

In speech before a joint session of the California Legislature, Calderon said the United States must work with Mexico to ensure growth in both economies.

“Our nations will never find prosperity by closing their doors,” he said.”*
