The impact of losing relatively cheap labor could be very significant, according to people in the construction and landscape maintenance industries, especially in a high-growth area like Madison County.

One estimate from a local landscaper is that the entire illegal immigrant population left the state immediately, about 30 percent of construction and landscape businesses would go belly up within a matter of months.”*
