“Dominican merenguero Juan Luis Guerra and Puerto Rican hip hop duo Calle 13 continued their rule of music awards over the last year, winning at yesterday’s 50th Grammy Awards.

“I want to thank my Savior, my family, and the Dominican Republic,” Guerra said during the pretelecast accepting the award for Best Tropical Latin album for his acclaimed “La Llave de Mi Corazón.”

The veteran merenguero swept the Latin Grammys last fall winning five awards for the same album honored last night. He last won the mainstream Grammy in 1991 for “Bachata Rosa.”"*
