CIMS » El Dia de los Muertos REJECTED
Tagged: Chicago, Film, film festival, Illinois, Mexico
My name is Rosa Frausto and I’m a Chicago actress. I work on independent films, some shorts and some features. This year 2008 has begun…well…somewhat not so well, I won’t get into details but this one just really hit me. I received an email regarding a upsetting decision made by the Chicago Latino Film Festival. The film, “El Dia De Los Muertos” is my first lead role in a feature film, a film I’m very proud of. It was shot here in my wonderful city of Chicago and in beautiful Mexico. It’s a good film, and I’m not doing this because it’s my first lead but because it’s a good story, it really is. Everyone in this film worked hard and did a great job. My point is, the committee of the Chicago Latino Film Festival has rejected it. Yes, REJECTED IT, a “CHICAGO” film with “LATINO” artists, a “FILM” with diverse actors, rejected.”*
