One million text-messages will be delivered to cell phones across the country on Election Day 2008 in a 21st century health voter strategy.
The Health Foundation for the Americas (HFA), working with a powerful consortium of community health groups, announced a national effort that will increase access to health information for voters and boost voter turnout. The VOTE FOR YOUR HEALTH / VOTA POR TU SALUD effort will utilize an innovative text-messaging platform to remind voters to go to the polls.
“On Election Day 2008 we will send out text messages to over 1 million voters reminding them to Vote for Your Health!” said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health whose members provide services to over 100 million people every year.”*
