Knowledge is Power!

“The phenomenal growth of Latinos in the United States has begun to have a tremendous impact on the educational process.

As the student population continues to increase in diversity, we as educators must recognize that education is not one-size-fits-all. We must be open to the role culture plays on the educational process of this ethnic group and look at differences as part of a rich and holistic education.

Clear patterns can be seen along ethnic lines when the overall 10-million increase in youth is taken apart. There are two clear forces at work. First, there will be a 13% (6 million) decline over a 38-year period in the white population. Second, the Latino youth population will triple in size, a sharp contrast to the patterns in the white population.”*
